Sheriff Deakon Wood

Sheriff Deakon Wood is deeply rooted in the community he serves. Raised in Hollis, Oklahoma, Sheriff Wood began his law enforcement career with the Greer County Sheriff's Office in 2015 as a detention deputy later leaving as their Jail Administrator.

Driven by a desire to serve on the front lines, he joined the Cordell Police Department, completing his CLEET certification in February 2017 and later serving as Assistant Chief. Upon returning to his home in Harmon County, Sheriff Wood continued his service with the Hollis Police Department and the Harmon County Sheriff’s Office, where he gained vital leadership experience serving as Undersheriff under two previous administrations.

Sheriff Wood is committed to serving his neighbors with integrity, holding a firm belief in protecting the constitutional rights of all citizens. With deep roots in the area, he is dedicated to remaining in Harmon County to serve, protect, and support the community he calls home.
